Notice for India Travelers

April 6, 2021

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) currently recommends avoiding all travel to India (Click here for CDC’s info for travel to India).

Due to the CDC’s determination that “the magnitude and scope of the COVID-19 pandemic in the Republic of India are surging”, the U.S. Government has restricted travel to the U.S. of those who have been present in India during the last 14 days prior to departure, except for U.S. citizens and legal residents (Click here for the full document).

For travelers arriving in Arkansas, the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) strongly recommends that any person who was physically present in India during the last 14 days quarantine at home after their arrival.  Those who arrive from India should quarantine according to the following recommendations:

  • Stay home and self-quarantine for 14 days—counting from the day of your departure from India.
  • Get tested with a COVID-19 PCR test at least 7 days after arrival to the U.S., even if you have no symptoms. If your test is positive, isolate yourself to protect others from getting infected.
  • Self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms. If you develop symptoms, isolate yourself and get tested right away.

We make these same recommendations even for those who are fully vaccinated.

Please note that the ADH recommendations for quarantine may differ from the quarantine recommendations on the CDC website. Please call 1-800-803-7847 or email adh.coronavirus@arkansas.gov  if you have any questions or concerns.
