The Arkansas Department of Health emphasizes a preventative approach to Infectious Disease in efforts to prevent, reduce and eventually eliminate illness and deaths due to HIV, AIDS, syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia and other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). ADH strives to assure that an up-to-date continuum of care services is available to all HIV-infected persons living in Arkansas.
ADH Infectious Disease approach provides:
- Information on Hepatitis C, STDs, and HIV/AIDS for citizens, the media, policy makers, service providers, and healthcare workers
- Resources for public health professionals and community-based organizations trained to assist in the prevention of STDs (including HIV/AIDS)
- STD treatment guidelines for health care providers
- Information about a variety of case management and care services available to persons living with HIV/AIDS - Ryan White Care Program
- Statistics on STDs (including HIV/AIDS) in Arkansas
- A collection of resources for public health prevention efforts directed toward reducing the number of cases of HIV/AIDS/STDs in Arkansas
- Information for use in health policy planning, evaluation, and research

Mission
The Arkansas Department of Health and community partners seek to protect the health of the public and all Arkansans in the mission to reduce and eliminate Infectious Diseases. ADH and community partners provide continuous efforts to prevent, treat, provide access to quality care, as well as control and monitor the spread of HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases.
Our Vision

- Eradicate stigma, discrimination and health disparities surrounding HIV and all Sexually Transmitted Diseases.
- Strengthen systems of STD treatment and HIV care.
- Advocate for public policy to alleviate the human and economic costs of HIV and all Sexually Transmitted Diseases.
